Sergio Conceicao remains the top candidate to replace Stefano Pioli at the end of the season, with talks ongoing between the parties. According to a journalist, it’s now very likely that the manager will leave Porto.

Conceicao recently renewed his contract with Porto, but then Andre Villas-Boas won the presidential election at the club. The new president is keen on making some changes and he’s not on the best of terms with Conceicao, though they will remain professional until the end of the season.

According to SportItalia’s Gianluigi Longari, talks between Milan and Conceicao’s agent Jorge Mendes have been ‘progressing strongly’ since the end of April. The manager is very likely to leave Porto also due to his relationship with the new director Jorge Costa.

Milan have made it clear that they won’t announce their new manager until the end of the season, while Conceicao is currently focused on the cup final against Sporting in two weeks. Therefore, an announcement is not expected in the coming days and the fans will have to be a bit patient.

The likes of Paulo Fonseca and Roberto De Zerbi remain in the background, but Milan seem more and more convinced of the Portuguese manager.
