When Cody Rhodes finally finished his story by defeating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL, he looked forward to starting a new chapter. However, on the episode of Raw after WrestleMania, The Rock came out and indicated that their story was far from over. An update has emerged regarding the showdown between The American Nightmare and The Great One at WrestleMania 41.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is currently a title vs. title match scheduled for next year’s WrestleMania. It was reported that Cody Rhodes had no direction going forward with The Rock or Roman Reigns returning to the Stamford-based company. The plan is to have a match between the two as WWE champions against the people’s champion.

Rocky received the People’s Belt from Muhammad Ali‘s wife, Lonnie Ali, during the Hall of Fame ceremony. However, Dave Meltzer noted that the dynamics can change in the timeline between now and next year’s WrestleMania. The WWE insider thinks that Rhodes might not remain champion until next year’s Show of Shows, making The Rock’s title the focal point.

The 38-year-old star continued his title reign after defeating AJ Styles in a barn-burner of a main event at Backlash in France. As of now, the next challenger for his title has not been confirmed yet, as the King & Queen of the Ring tournament takes center stage. The buildup for his next title defense may possibly begin with the upcoming episode of SmackDown. It will be interesting to see who is next in line for a championship opportunity.

Cody Rhodes admitted to hating R-Truth more than anyone else in the company

The American Nightmare might be the top star in WWE right now, but there was a time when he suffered a lot of losses as Stardust. And the one man who defeated him countless times was one of the most beloved stars of the company even today: R-Truth. Rhodes expressed his petty desire in an interview to defeat the 52-year-old veteran on that day.

While speaking on the Cheap Heat podcast, the 38-year-old star spoke about his record against R-Truth. Although he admitted that the veteran was a great human being and father, he was the person he disliked the most. Interestingly, Rhodes even remembered the number of times Truth defeated him—an astonishing 42 times.

I might dislike R-Truth more than anybody in the whole business. He’s an unbelievably great human and great father, but if I was Stardust, just know that on 42 different occasions, I was looking up at the lights while R-Truth was dancing around and celebrating. He is currently enjoying his time as one-half of the Tag Team Champions with The Miz . However, a battle between two of the most loved stars for the title wouldn’t be a bad idea. It will be interesting to see how the 54-time 24/7 Champion would fare against The American Nightmare this time.
